Saying Good-bye

Having to say good-bye to your nearest and dearest can be one of the hardest things we do in life. There can be a million reasons we do, like after a visit, or when someone is going on vacation or moving distances away from us or when we have to say our final farewell at someone's departure from this Earth.

For me, death is one of the hardest good-byes I have ever had to say. I am thankful I haven't had to say too many. However, no matter how many times we experience a loss in our lives - it never gets easier. This past June, I lost an extraordinary woman in my life. Someone I could always talk with, laugh with,  bake with, complain with, and cry with. My Mother-in-Law. 10 months after marriage and 8 years after dating it was so hard to let her go.

So what can we do? We can cry. We can jump on board with any vice that we fancy. But, I am choosing to live. Live life with fullness and gratitude. Thankful for everything she taught me and all the experiences she brought into my life…I mean without her I wouldn't be married to the man of my dreams.

I think it is important to remember the good times - even though they are so bittersweet. Fill our lives and spaces with pieces of them that reminds us of the joy they brought us and will continue to bring us from up above. Move past the suffering and understand that they will always be with us. Finding comfort in the fact that they are at peace. Changing that final good-bye into a see you later.

As someone in the hospital said to us, "Que Sera, Sera…Whatever will be, will be".

A Glace at My Fairytale….

Matthew and I met back in high school. I was planning the Christmas prom and a friend had told to talk to this guy I had never heard of for a credit card for the down payment for the hotel. Another friend had to point me to which one he was. I saw him standing there in his high school uniform covered with a black leather coat, slightly intimidated. I walked straight through the crowd of guys he was talking to, yes little 5"1 me, and looked up and said….."I need your credit card". First words ever spoken to this man….and from that a friendship blossomed into a romance.

On December 24, 2012 Matthew proposed. We were each decorating a side of our annual gingerbread house. When he turned his side around, he had spelt "Will you "merry" me?" in the candy!

We got married September 13, 2014 surround by our amazing friends and family!
